About Me

I’m an international student from Pakistan 🇵🇰, who grew up in Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 and then came over to Canada 🇨🇦 to study Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo!

Professionally, I like to ping pong between industry and academia. Regardless of field, my passion has always been problem solving and effective scientific communication. In my academia terms, I have worked with Quantum Optics at the Institute for Quantum Computing, wherein I also had the opportunity to design hands on models that helped demystify quantum physics. In industry, I have worked as a data scientist at Rosalind Inc. and PepsiCo. At the former, I helped develop an events database that helped streamline the daily investment decision making process. At the latter, I worked with the data innovation team to help capitalize on new potential

I have too many hobbies and random interests that I picked up to list them out fully but if you want to chat I love Ancient History (highlights include the Mughal Rule and House of Wisdom eras), high fantasy novels (love me some Brandon Sanderson) and trying out new ways to stay fit (former quidditch player & currently working up to a full hand stand)

Mealcare Waterloo - Social Media Manager / Outreach

• Helping divert food waste by rerouting resources and supplies to those in need
• Using social media platforms to educate students on how to minimize food waste!

Team Member on UW Orbital!

• Working as part of the ADCS team on the orbital mechanics of our satellite!
• Current task : Simulate magnetorquers to make sure the camera never points to the sun!

Quantum Optics Research Assistant

Institute for Quantum Computing*,* Waterloo*, (Jan 2020 – Apr) 2020*

• Built Quantum Key Distribution demo using Python and AutoCAD, saving $3000 per setup
• Supervised teams of masters and PhD students during outreach events across the Greater Toronto Area helping make Quantum Physics more accessible to 100s of students
• Authored instruction manuals and lab report with software tutorials to aid future lab workers
